I am a disabled vet and not real tech savy anymore.
I am trying to get my PC to work with my TV. but need some help getting it all to work together!

I have a TV that has lot of diffrent inputs to include a monitor port to hook up PC.

I have a Direct Tv tuner box.

I have a PC with a nice video card and a TV tunner card. On board sound.

I currently have the direct tv box hooked to the tuner card with S-video cable.

I currently have the PC hooked to the TV via a monitor cable with an adapter to hook to the square hole ports on the video card to the TV monitor port.

I can see the PC on the tv and can use it like a PC, but when I run the TV tuner program I dont seem to get a signal from the direct box.

Am I hooking the cables up wrong or something? I have no sound I assume I will need to get sound cables from the pc to the tv?

If anyone can help me sort this, so I can watch the ball game while I play poker..I would really appreciate the help!

the tv tuner software has to be set to composite/AV or svideo, this way your directtv will show up on the screen.
The sound you can get directly from your computer speakers.
On my setup, I just use the computer speakers.

I dont have PC speakers I need to use the ones built into the TV.

Do I need to run sound from the direct tv box to the tunner card? or is the svideo cable enough?

What kind of tuner card do you have? If you have a hardware encoder card (haupagauge pvr or hvr type) the tuner card has the audio in, for a software encoder (msi/avertv/etc), the tuner card usually has a wire that gets hook to the computer audio in.

The audio out of the computer will have be hooked up to your TV speakers.
