BRAVIA LCD TV KLV-40BX400

I have just picked the BRAVIA LCD TV KLV-40BX400 and it has a USB port at the side, i have tried to play various videos files such as .avi, mp4, wmv etc. but somehow it wont play any of the files.

Is there some kind of converter that i need to download in order for the videos to play on this bravia ??

Would appreciate if someone could help me out..

should play avi files plug in usb pen press home go to video and scroll to bottom to find usb device click on it and files should be there i watch avi films on mine

I don't know what I'm talking about, since I don't own this TV, but I can't find anything of it playing avi, mp4, or wmv. Sony website and others says that it will only play videos in these formats:
MPEG-1
MPEG-2 (MPEG-1 Layer II audio codec only)

And JPEG photos, mp3 music.
