I have a sony Kf-E50a10(cdn version of KDF-E50A10) LCD rear projection tv.
The problem is this, the power/standby light goes from
being green (The tv is then working perfectly)to flashing
red 3 times. The tv shuts off.Sony instruction book
says check that the bulb, and door are secure.Once they are, the light will turn green and the tv will come back on.NOT!!!
The light continues to flash red in increments of 3
    and the tv is dead(no pic,no sound,NOTHING).
So I disconnect the outlet plug and come back a couple of weeks later.
    Turn the tv on and it works,for maybe 3days,or 3 weeks,or 3months.
Then the red flashing light does it's thing and again the tv dies.
A repairman came, replaced the bulb and the tv worked.I took out the new bulb and put back the old bulb and the tv worked for 3 months.Again the tv died and the red flashes came on.Left tv for 4 mths and
then I put in new bulb and the pic lasted 5 weeks and the power /standby light did it's 3 red flashes and again the tv died.
This nonsense has been going on for more than a year.Sony says its the
bulb,I tell them the bulb has been replaced twice but the tv keeps dying.I pointed out that it is the power/standby light that is
flashing and NOT the lamp light(which has never flashed).
They say get a repairman.I tell them that I did and he replaced the bulb
and the tv flashed red and died.
Has any body got any ideas??
All help would be greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend you escalate your service request to Sony.
Start by sending a detailed email describing the problem & Sony's unacceptable response.
Be sure to supply enough detail that Sony will know if you are still "in warranty".
If you are out of warranty say you are demanding an out of warranty response.
Be sure to address your email to the CEO of Sony for your country.
You may not have that address, no matter, just type BOLDLY "FOR THE ATTENTION OF THE CEO SONY" & request a read receipt.
You may be able to find his/her name by doing a Google search.
Recently I got service direct from China on a 3 year old fridge when the local distributor got into a hand wringing excuse making routine.
Good Luck, stay "reasonable" & don't be put off.

Had the tv guy in and he said that there are two switches that could be causing the problem, 1)the lamp switch or 2)the lamp door switch.
He recomends I replace both.Sony has asked for the estimate and is willing to work something out with me.
