I have a very strange problem with my Olevia 32 TV. It is about 3 years old and has worked fine until a few days ago. I have basic cable hooked up to it and a Sony DVD player.
Here is my problem. When watching Fox News (and now and then another channel) a black box shows up in the center of the screen. The black box covers about half of the picture. This black box goes away during commercials and is not always there, but it is there about 2/3 of the time. The part of the picture that I can see is perfectly clear and the sound is fine. I just get this black box blocking the middle of the screen.
Any ideas?

Elliot,
Thank you for your reply. I reset my factory settings on my TV while the infamous black box was visible on my screen. The box was still displayed. I then shut down the TV and turned it back on thinking that just maybe the factory settings would reset after I started the TV up again.
Sadly, I still get this black box. The black box shows up on a few more stations now and then, but is very prevelant on one station.
Any more ideas for me to try? I do not mind admitting that I am not too well educated in the electronic gadget catagorys and am at a loss as to what to try next.

Well darn only something mostly hopeless does this happen when using your cable box if so try unplugging the cable box for ten minutes and if you have an antenae try getting local stations over the air see if this black box is related to your signal or your tv at this point you wanna eliminate any other culprits.

When I say unplug I mean literally from the the wall some cable boxes need reseting and this will do it.

I only have the cable hooked up to the TV. The cable simply comes to the back of the TV from the wall. There is no cable box. I just unplugged the TV for 20 minutes. As soon as I turned it back on, the black box was there on the Fox station, but gone from all the rest.
Thank you for trying to help me with this. This is really a very strange issue.

Well if it's only happening on Fox it has to be some other issue or it would happen on all channels. I guess if you play a dvd it's fine, I'm really puzzled. I love my olevia tv they made good products and in america.
