I have owned a vizio 26" 720p 60hz hdtv with a contrast ratio of 700:1 for about 3 years now. I have used it for pretty much just gaming.

I have decided to get a new tv and after looking on newegg, I think I decided on a 42" spectre 1080p 120hz. It has a contrast ratio of 4000:1 and a dynamic contrast ratio of 16000:1.

I will be mainly using a ps3 via hdmi with the tv.

How much of a difference do you think I will notice? I think my vizio looks alright, but I haven't really seen any hdtvs that have been produced in the past few years. At least not in person.

Also, I notice a lot of games still just run in 720p. If I am running a game on 720p on my new tv, will it actually show the 720p image any better than a tv that only has a resolution up to 270p?

Vizio and Spectre are two low end "third tier" TV sets. You won't see much of a difference.
