Hi, my eurovox box (on N*l) has stopped receiving the signal from the remote so we can't change any channels, we suspect the sensor receiver in the box is broken, it now panic stations cause it's less than an week to xmas. If I was to purchase a Eurovox EX5100 from a well known auction site, could I just plugged it in to the existing connections or would there have to be some mods done before I could recieved the 200+ channel I got before with my old box? Any advise would be appreciated, thanks

if you buy a new box you would have to mod it as you say, will the channels not change via the buttons on the box(i know it would be annoying but still)you could try a one for all remote(one for all are very good and if there is no code in the book for your device you can phone them and they will get it for you)or you could try and get a replacement original remote for your eurovox(this would be more ideal) try ebay or google (i dont know if you will get it posted to you before christmas ).

    test your remote
very simple.. you have a phone with a camera? .. point the remote at the phone cam and press some buttons.. you will see the led light if it's working.. if not usually just cleaning the battery contacts in the remote cures them.

Hi, I've done the test with the camera phone and the led shows up fine, we've even borrowed a neighbours remote but that won't change any channels either which is why we think it is the box that is faulty. I've taken the front of the box off to check that everything is plugged in properly. The channels will change by the buttons on the front of the box but we've have set them up using the "fav" button and when it has gone faulty it was set on itv etc, which is fine for me but the other half can't get to his sports channels. Would it be difficult to do any mods to a new box myself? would it be a case of downloading info from the net? Any help would be appreciated, thanks

I don't do anything with modding the boxes.. (very personal reasons) .. a new ir sensor shouldn't cost much.. have you tried cleaning the inside of the window it sees through? It's odd for these to fail. I can't remember one occasion in the last 20 years I have seen a fault in an ir receiving setup.. general software failures yes.. but never a fault in a sensor.
