Philips HDD DVD recorder dubing problem

I've been very happy with my Philips DVDR3576H-37 unit with a 160 GB drive.

This last year, it has refused to make dubs from the HD to a DVD blank disc, no matter what brand or speed disc I select. I just keep getting a "disc error" message about 5 seconds after I start a dubbing process.

Any suggestions?
