Tevion TDR 930 DVD Recorder Has No Sound?

Hi, I have recently purchased a Tevion TDR 930 DVD Recorder and when i plugged it in, neither DVD's nor USB video has sound, there is video, but no sound. except for 1 time, when i had all the volumes turned up to max, then i got the sound O so faintly. it was impossible to listen to. is it my configuration, or is there something wrong with this machine??

I have seen a few faulty ones.. Took me 3 to get a good one. Check it isn't muted and you have the right outputs connected.. these things are wired weird and the scart outputs seem to use 0v for active and +5 for disable going against 90% of everything else on the market. (pin 24 switching)
