This dvd recorder for some odd reason will not finalize a disc once it's been burned ! Any ideas on how I can finalize discs !
I get error messages saying this disc cannot be recored on after I've recorded programs !

Are you certain it hasn't finalized it automatically - does it playback on a pc after being recorded.

I've had this issue with this dvd recorder since I've had it ! I'm not sure if it needs a firmware update because Toshiba doesn't seem to know either !

I had this same problem when I first purchased the same dvd recorder, and somehow it resolved itself. I cannot tell you how, sorry. I did learn that it did not like Sony blank dvd-r's, though, wouldn't even recognise them at all, blank or recorded. Again, I don't know why. I've been using verbatim, philips, fuji with no problems at all.
Software that doesn't work, or decides on it's own to run all the time, sucks.
