#1 04 Dec 2011 @ 19:07
Hello,
Sorry if this topic has been recently discussed, but I was wondering if there is a new/free version of DVDFab out there. The newest one that I have is HD Decrypter 8125Qt
Is there a FREE update out there?

Thanks a lot!!!

By the way, the reason why I am asking is because I'm having trouble making a back up of The Smurfs. Has anyone managed to back it up? If so, how?
Thanks a lot!

I am having the same problem with the same movie. I have already tried Dvd shrink and Dvd Fab version 8.1.3.6 with no success either way. I keep getting a error message something about error while reading! Please choose what to do. And when i hit the button to ignore all it just runs but doesn't ever read the dvd.Sorry I couldn't be more help.

I ended up using DVD shrink and it worked.
I picked the reauthor option and grabbed the version of the movie that says "angle 2".
It copied without any issues. But that was an "emergency" solution. Try that!

I already tried using dvd shrink and I get a error while reading so it didn't work for me. I tried dvd fab 8, dvd shrink, rip it for me, i even downloaded a trail of any dvd but I still couldn't get it.

8.125 is the latest there is,tho a quick search of forum should bring you to the dvdfab beta assuming one is available, win x dvd copy isn't free & warez means it's pirated, just gotta be careful installing that crap a fair few times the software is unstable or virus laden

I'm interested in free because I'm poor. Which isn't to say that I am not willing to buy programs. These days, I am not tech savvy enough to know what I'd want to buy if I had a credit card to buy. Buying stuff in the store is enormously problematic. I just wasted $80 on a program because the sales staff knew nothing. When I enquired about being able to return opened software I was told that it's regarded as piracy if it turns out that it's not what I wanted and so I can't return it.

I downloaded the most recent free DVDFab Decrypter and used it and it placed a watermark on my video. Not to mention the problem I have getting the program to merge my files or whatever. It's no problem for those who know how to do this stuff, but that's not me. I don't understand how this stuff works and I don't get a lot of the lingo and plain English help is missing in action - everywhere. If you don't have a friend who is tech savvy, or if you don't have oodles of money to throw at the problem until you've solved it, then you're screwed.

I'd love it if, when 'helpful' souls point me to this or that free, wonderful app, they included info such as "The program will add a watermark to your finished video," if appropriate.

Right now, I just want to rip my store bought anniversary edition of Tron to my hard drive so I can share it with anyone who might like it. Call it a back up if you like. I guess it is, Isn't it? I could very well lose my disc the way I move around. Yes, I expect that I will be 'backing up' other videos as well.

Go to the software section of this site, and check out the top downloads for DVDs. Some are free - most of my faves are there - imgburn, DVD decrypted, DVD shrink, handbrake. And you will learn.

Thanks. I can learn, but not as much as I'd like to. Everyone who says it's too easy somewhere has one-on-one help to get past bottle necks (which is something you can't figure out even if you figured out most of the stuff). I don't have that at present.

I've got most of the progs recommended here. They seem fine, but for the life of me, the learning I'm doing isn't helping when I can't apply it. I can't find where to change settings on most of these progs and in most places in each.

But I wing it and, I think, mostly have success. The stuff I burn will play on my pc (don't have a dvd player), which tells me that when my friends can't play my burned cds, it's because they know less than I do and haven't a clue about codecs etc..
