    Strange problem here.
Have a Acer aspire 5100 and originally we thought it just had a bad virus as it would not boot-up.When turned on it only got to the 1st screen then halted.
I have since used the restore facilty on the Acer rescue management system on the Laptop, but i still have the same problem.
When turned on i get this message on the first screen-
PXE-E61 media test failure check cable.
    PXE-MOF exiting PXE Rom.

Would love to go out a buy a new HDD but the one thing that is confusing me ,when i get this failure on boot up i go into bios settings with pressing F2,and i then go to boot-up none of my dvd drive etc ,hdd is recognised.Although if i put in a cd or dvd in the drive it recognises the drive on start up.
I dont want to spend 40pounds on a HDD if it motherboard or simple bios reload etc.
    Help apprecieted here.
