so basically my laptop just turned off and i could smell a burning smell. I saw that the LCD cable coming from the screen to the motherboard had been burnt slightly. the laptop still turns on fine when i dissconnect the burnt cable but not vice versa.
The laptop still works as i hooked it up via HDMI on my TV and it worked so thankfully nothing else is fried.
do you guys think the LCD itself is fried or just i just need a new cable. New LCD is £80! new cable £15!!! cheers.

if you can get at the whole length of the cable with a multimeter, that should tell you if cable is good or bad.
