hi i have a ATI HD 4870 x2 and i did a clean instal of windows 7 64bit i have core i7 940 6gb of ram 1k psu an in the overdrive seccion of the ccc the clocks are in the default 2D 507/503 but when i lunch a 3D application this values dosent change and i get low FPS im using CCC 9.12 also this card at the beginig it started to restarting my pc i thought it was temps but they where like 70°C when playing crysis so i put the fan up to 80% and no shutdowns but if i changed the fan to a lower speed like 60 or 70 i restarts my pc (playing crysis)

i edited the xml profile so the clocks and voltages of the 2d r the same as the 3d 750/900 and put the fan up to 50% and then i did the heaven benchmark with all maxed a a resolution of 1920*1200 and i got like 20fps i lowered the resolution to 1650*1080 and got like 38-40
is this normal?? the temps where ok like 75°C ,or is this a issue of the drivers or do i have a faulty card xD thanxs for the help in advance

Heat is a big issue with those cards; the coolers are only a tiny bit larger than the coolers for the single-chip 4870...and the single chip 4870 gets hot. ATI (an nVidia) seem to target a temperature that will burn out the card about a week after the warantee is up. Even when the load is low, the card still runs hot because the fan slows down. I would just lock the fan speed to 100% to see if that helps.
