I recently swapped out a motherboard and cpu. when i started the pc up it loaded windows xp like i never swapped them. thing is i want a clean install but cant get it to boot from the cd? any thoughts on what to do next?
make certain the rom drive in the bios is set to boot 1st. other option is in the post screen before it loads into windows is to press esc buttom to select which drive to boot from. make certain the windows disk is still bootable & try another rom drive.
Ok so the motherboard and cpu have been swapped out for slightly better ones. The hard drive is same one I've been using with windows xp on it. When i try to boot from the cd it just goes to the previous windows. I have changed the bios to boot from the cd and not from the hard drive at all but it still doesnt work. I then let it start windows and opened the cd that way and it works so the cd and dvd drive seem to work. Also,I have tried resetting to the default bios settings with no luck as well. any ideas as for what to do next? the mobo is a MSI K8T Neo-FSR (MS-6702. another problem i have is the fact that when windows boots i can only use the keyboard. i have a microsoft optical usb mouse that wont work. i tried to install the drivers for it but i cant get pass the accept the terms box with out a mouse to click it.
