I currently do everything as far as home pc needs on a desktop.

However, I am thinking of ditching the desktop for a laptop so I have the flexibility to move around – I live in a condo and don’t have a lot of room for a huge desk and all that crap.

    Pls help me on this:
-I want to still to be able to download movies and music as I do now but not store them on the actual laptop but instead store it on an external harddrive -- is that possible?
-Also, I don’t want to burn out the burner of the laptop so I would get an external burner as well

Am I on the right track here? Can a laptop still give me the usefulness and advantages as my desktop?

But I never play games so is my idea a good one?

Also, I have a brand new big screen tv - could I hook up the laptop to the tv and bypass having to download movies altogether? Just watch them from the laptop on the big screen? Is that a good idea?

Why can't I just connect the lap to the tv and watch via that way?
