So I have a monstrous 4870 asus dark knight thing:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121291

The thing is a monster compared to what I had.
I'm thinking I can really run with the best if I get a board with 2 pciX16 slots, and another card real cheap on ebay, since newegg doesn't stock the same card anymore, right around when I get a phenom down the line.

so the question i have is, can I just get like, a sapphire 512mb of the same card and use that as the slave effectively? or does it have to be the exact same card? what're the rules on this?

Thanks in advance. :)

Yes you can use a card from a different manufacturer but you will want to make sure the clock speeds are the same on both cards.
