Hi Everyone, Ok, I'm still a novice to all things computer so please bare with me if I have posted this in the wrong section or if I sound completely stupid. I've just been given a Dell Latitude D505 Laptop and am trying to figure out if it has wireless capabilities. Each time I do a search for my home network I get a msg that says that the "wireless radio might be switched off". I found in the bottom right corner of the laptop screen what I thought was the wireless radio it's an "Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PC Adaptor" - when I double click on it it shows that the wireless radio is turned off, but I'm unsure of how to turn it on. Can anyone help please? Apologies for the long post cheers
Fn (blue key) F2 on my old Dell. F2 has a little wireless icon (((( O )))) http://www.dell.com/downloads/us/products/latit/d505_spec.pdf http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd505/en/index.htm#online_documentation Jeff
on the left side of the case there is a switch to turn the wireless radio on.this laptop should have wireless built in.
Hi Guys, Thanks so much for the replies! I tried finding the switch on the left side of the laptop and found nothing - searched everywhere and couldn't find it. Tried the F2 button and got the following Alert msg "The Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3A Mini PCI Adapter is still disabled. Use the Intel PROSet utility to enable it" Any ideas. Thanks Tara
Do you have the correct driver/software installed? Maybe that's what the problem is. I can't tell from here without seeing it. You should be able to use the Intel wireless adapter. Also the option to use one or the other. Jeff
