Dlink DWA-131 usb wireless problems

I have recently purchased a DWA-131 usb wireless adapter and for some reason it will not work. I have used the windows update driver, they didnt work, uninstalled and used the cd drivers, that didnt work, uninstalled and installed updated drivers, to no avail.

The results are all the same: The device says enabled and seems to be working properly, however it does not show up in my wireless/wired icon on the bar at the bottom of the screen. I have been in the properties and configuration of the device and cannot make it find or connect to anything. Windows reports that the device is working properly.

I have Windows 7 x64. I have two of these adapters and both of them work on one of my machines, and neither work on this one. I have used the same drivers as the ones on the other machine.

Any help is greatly appreciated, I'm on the end of my ropes!
