Dropped Hard Drive works with DVD Player, but not with Computers??

    I dropped my Simpletech 1 TB Hard Drive this morning while it was plugged into my Philips DVD player with USB input and now none of my computers (1 Desktop PC with Vista, 1 Macbook Pro) will recognize it. However, the Philips DVD player still recognizes and plays the files on the hard drive. Is there any way I can get either computer (preferably the Mac) to recognize the hard drive so I can copy the files before/if it dies?

    Thanks so much for your help!

    Update: My hard drive has begun clicking, and now the DVD player won't recognize it.

    If it makes you feel any better, you would have never been able to get the files off in just 20 minutes.
