error checking on vista

    the pc stops at 15 percent
    I tried a few times
    I tried hitting a key to stop the checking
    it keeps on going

    Use a barttools or equivelant to test the drive.

    I tried closing the pc a few times
    I tried control alt delete

    Google "bart tools pe" - this is a windows xp that starts from a cd or DVD, and will let you do diagnostics/drive scanning without the need for the hard drive's windows to start. There are also a lot of Linux DVDs and CDs that do essentialy the same thing (called Live CD or Live DVD).
