One touch 4 Mini, Usb powered.

It won't light up or be read by the PC most of the time but I can hear and feel the HDD doing something inside the case.

If I leave it unplugged for a few days and plug it back into the usb, the light will come on and flash while the PC read the files on the HDD. it stays on for no more than 1 minute or so before the light turns off and the HDD is not recognized again.

    could the partition cause this?

Probably a power issue; are you using a powered hub?

I plug it into two usb ports in the back of the pc. i'm not too familiar with pc stuff.

it says my generic usb hub is bus powered

and the usb root hubs are self powered.

i'm guessing the generic hub is my 4 in 1 usb plug i have plugged into the front.
