Hi, a few days ago my computer started crashing and after hours of working out what it was, I found out that one of my hard drives is causing it to crash and then hangs therefore no blue screen. Its a 1TB Samsung hd103sj hard drive currently running on Windows 7 64bit. (I know its nothing to do with the OS as I have a identical drive that works perfectly fine).

The reason I know its this particular hard drive is that when I try to move files into this hard drive, it also causes my computer to crash. One weird thing I notice was that it still works fine like any other hard drive and my computer don't crash but only if there is less than 150GB worth of files on the hard drive anymore and the computer crashes.

So I was wondering if anyone knows why this is and is there any way to fix this weird problem so I can actually use the whole 1TB and not only 150GB, or is it time to pack it up and get a new one?

get your data you want saved & have windows do a full check disk including for errors as is possible the drive is full of bad sectors. also delete the partition, make a new partition & do a full format not quick format. found that with a customer's hd that is doing same as yours.
