Hard Drive fried 20gb Maxtor D740X-6L

I have a 20gb Maxtor D740X-6L and it got fried I was wondering if it could be replaced with my spare seagate u6 model ST320410A 20gb drive? If not any suggestions im trying to stay under $30 for replacement. Thanks

can use almost any hd that is compatible with your pc.
