I recently installed a sata 2 hard drive. It gets picked up in the BIOS and Windows fine.

If I try to put files on the drive I get a "Delayed write failure" error.

After doing a search I could only find threads relating to External drives

Also Windows now takes longer to load and shut down . I'm unsure if this is related

try the drive on a different computer and see what you get. If you still have the same problem return it for a new drive.

I encountered this before with a 300gb sata. The drive was recognized and seems to write and read but sometimes it takes a long time to open a file on it, I also occasionaly get the delay write errors. Over time the problem got worst now it won't read. Nowadays with drives, if they don't work correctly right out of the box, I return them.

    Bad drive or bad cable.
