So yea, recently I had been having a few times where my computer would freeze up but only my mouse cursor was usable so I would have to restart. When I did this it would boot to the MSI "post" or "Del for bios" type selection and stop loading and my HDD indicator light would be a solid Red as if it was continuously loading. It would do this a few times in a row. Sometimes I might be able to get it to start up after a few reboots but sometimes it would go to a "Disk Read Error Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart" screen. Last time I popped off the side panel and wiggled the sata cord a bit, you never know about cord connections sometimes and it booted up first try. But it does boot up sometimes when I do not check the cable so I'm unsure if its my sata port or the HDD itself. Any1 have any clues or any way to check this out before taking it to a shop to get a hardware diag done on it?
my second sata port is actually not accessable as it is a micro ATX mobo and my GPU takes up 2 slots and covers the 1st sata port. I'm using a MSI K9N6SGM-V board and HIS IceQ HD4670 Turbo card =/ Replacing the board soon, but need it to work at least 3 more weeks.
I would not use ANYTHING that is causing me to have problems accessing DATA. It would be cheaper to buy/borrow another video card to test the unavailable SATA port. One bad write to the drive and you could be TOAST!

hmm... I never really though of a 90 degree offset cord, I never checked the clearance before. When I put in my GPU, I just moved my HDD over a port to make it fit without really thinking twice. Such an obvious and easy check. I'll def give that a shot.
