I've recently got a HDTV hooked up to my computer.

My GPU has SVGA and HDMI outputs, and i have tried both into my new HDTV. However, there doesn't seem to really be any difference between the two. Both have a maximum resolution of 1440 x 900, and there is no discernible quality difference.

Should i really notice any difference with my PC hooked up via HDMI?

There is a difference. Get a black piece of paper and hold it next to the screen when connected to DVI and displaying an image with lots of black...you will notice that the black is almost a true black...just a tiny bit of shine to it. Then repeat the process with VGA and you will notice that the black is just a very dark grey. Most people will not notice the difference without this test or a side-by-side compairison...so long as a quality VGA cable is used...otherwise VGA gets interferance whenever a vacuum cleaner gets turned on.
