I do have a much better pc but this one is my spare and im going to be upgradeing it as much as i can to help me understan the workings of a pc better. So any help would be hreat mick In Dublin
It would need to be a very old system not to be able to take more RAM than that. It is more the motherboard than the CPU that dictates RAM amount. Go here and punch your motherboard\system in, if it is there it will tell you maximum amount.
what is the make & model# of the motherboard or computer? sounds like sdram with possibility it is ddr ram.
The make and model numbrt is Motherboard Name Gigabyte GA-6WMM7 What i have researched so far is that i can upgrade to 512 i think this is right. It be about 60 euro for the ram its only a learning exercise for me but i think its possible.I look more into it. All hints of help are welcome. My aim is to upgrade the ram add a external hard drive and put in a lightscribe dvd writer. If i can do this to this bucket of junk i be happy.
www.crucial.com is a good site for checking such a question. As jodav said, 512MB is your max. Here's the details. http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=GA-6WMM7
