    Hi,

My pc recently crashed. I tried to put my existing HD in an enclosure and it showed in disk manager as a foreign desk and it was set to dynamic. The only option I have is to convert it to basic dsik which would delete everything. Is there anyway to access it?

I have XP Pro on my laptop and my previous PC(broken) was XP pro. The oly difference was SP2 and SP3. Any ideas?

By foreign do you mean "unrecognized" disk? Does it show up as "raw"?

If the disc is corrupted then it won't read when connected. You can try doing a scandisk (with the boxes to fix errors checked).

As long as the drive isn't encrypted you can try testdisk (photorec addon) and see if that can recover your data.
