Well, My HP laptop is a piece of shit. I have spent about $80 in parts to replace the power jack twice (my brother knows how to solder). I was wondering if any of you knew how to hardwire the charger to the inside of my computer. I just bought this port a couple of days ago and it's dying on me... again (and no returns once it's soldered!) I don't want to buy a new computer before I go to college (got one year left of High School).

    Any help is appreciated.

It will never fit inside.. but your brother knows how to solder.. I guess he can work it out as in soldering the charger wires direct to the board.

This could work, or you might consider getting a nice gold plated plug & socket set from someone good, solder the new (quality) socket into the laptop, and solder the new plug onto the AC adapter.

I just need something that will last long enough till I turn 18. Then I can buy a 13" MacBook Pro either with financing or with all my money and my parent's can't tell me what to do with my money then.

Anyways, does anyone know HOW to solder it in? My brother knows how to solder, but he doesn't know electronics that well.
