internet gone default gateway error??

    Hi lads merry xmas.I have ran into a bit of a problem hopefully someone can help,using windows xp i get this error when trying to
    connect?????
    "ERROR COULD NOT DETERMINE DEFAULT GATEWAY"
    Has anyone a way of helping me out with this one i have also noticed that when i go into network connections in control panel i have no available where as before i would have choice of LAN or WAN. If someone has experienced this or know anything that can help please reply, thank you.
