Hi guys. I don't know if this can be done but here it goes.

5 Guys sharing a 20mb internet connection at university accomodation. Is there some sort of Hardware/Software that will split the connection so we have equal share. I.e 4mbs each??

Trouble happens when one of us is gaming or uses torrents and it steals most of the bandwidth from the others...

I heard about 4/8 port switch but I have no idea what that is or where to get it? If someone has some links I would be most grateful. I live in the UK btw. Also is there any other way we could do it? Cheap also if possible please lol =)

    Thanks dudes

an advance router can do that there expensive though. DD-WRT also has a function similar to that but you need a compatible router

    here's a link of them

    http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices.

although you do realize that sectioning the network like that will make it slower than your already getting right.
