I have a high-end gaming rig setup but I have a cheap-ass case that I spent like $40 on and that is falling apart. Anyone have recommendations for a high-end full tower case? And preferably something that doesn't look too crazy and is classy. Thanks!
I'm pretty partial to this one: http://www.antec.com/Believe_it/product.php?id=Mg== It's very roomy in there and I like the simplistic design of it. Its a somewhat tool-less case, meaning you have to screw the quick connectors to the drives, but after that they snap into place. I also really love the removable, washable dust filters. After 2 1/2 years of running mine, it still looks almost brand new on the inside. The only downside I can see to this case is your power supply needs to have extra long cables (probably to force you into an Antec PSU), since its mounts in the bottom of the case.
Depends what components. The P180 is not a very big case inside for high end hardware, more designed for quietness and cable management than performance.
Heh, watching me eh sammorris? It has more than enough room for my needs. I'm running an ASUS MN32-SLI Deluxe Motherboard with a 9800GT. Its getting a little tight in there but I still have room to expand.
I regularly monitor my emails, and as soon as a thread is updated, the aD servers mail me, so no point waiting around... A 9800GT is not a high-end card, it is relatively nice and compact, and yet you say it's a little tight. See the problem? Size of that graphics card: Size of a typical high-end graphics card:
I also said I had room to expand. I'm not disagreeing with you, its not the biggest case in the world. I know that. But it fits MY needs. The 9800 isn't the fastest card in the world either, but it's sure a hell of a lot better than most cards. I wouldn't go as far to say that its not a high performance card though. Sure its not a Geforce 295 GTX but its still pretty fast. When I get around to building a new PC again, I'll do what I did last time I chose my case. I'll pick it out based on what hardware is available at the time and make sure I have room to expand.
Then good for you, but surely you can see that your needs aren't necessarily the same as this guy's needs? When I see this, I think big powerful components. Of course, it could be someone massively overstating their rig, but what if it isn't? A P180 really doesn't cut the mustard for dual high end graphics and so on. I would go as far as to say a 9800GT is not a high-end card, for two reasons. Forgetting performance for a minute, it's the same size as a budget midrange card, which is what's relevant here. (And if all high-end cards have to be this size, then you've missed off quite a large section of the market) Secondly, actually the 9800GT is quite slow by modern standards. The HD4830 beats it (just) which is a budget card, beaten by the cheap HD4850, inexpensive HD4870, reasonable HD4890 and now genuinehigh-end HD5870, which sits roughly 3-3.5x as fast as it.
