my keyboard does not respond when i try to boot

    my keyboard does not respond when i try to boot i tried almost everything in the bios it is a AMD SEMPRON 2600+ 1G RAM 40 GIG HD,i need help can anyone assist please- it works in changing bios settings but as soon as it comes to press any key to boot from cd - the num lock lights goes on and off evrytime i press a key

    Try resetting bios to factory setting then try it . If that doesn't help try using a ps2 keyboard amusing you are using a usb one .

    thanks rastadave just found out now i must use a old keyboard and mouse will try again this morning.but the funny thing is i played around with my bios and it installed perfectly without any problems but then i installed a graphics card nvidia 256mb and and changed the screen resolution now the screen is blank showing hz like no signal but will try safe mode and restore it to its low reso again.

    Don't use that stupid tool that comes with the video drivers; use the windows tool that you get by right-clicking on the desktop...if it somehow does go to a bad resolution, it will revert after 15 seconds.

    As for the keyboard, you can try turning on USB keyboard support in bios...this works about 1/2 of the time.

    thanks you guys really help me will know for a next time - will just format c drive and start over with that old keyboard
