I recently bought a Mybook 1tb external hard drive. Yesterday I we had it hooked up and set it on the floor (dumb idea) so we can transfer some files to it from pc. Well I accidently tripped over the usb wire and bent the connector on the hard drive. It looks like its broken and the usb wire will not connect anymore. So now there is no way I can access the hard drive. What is the best way to repair this or access the hard drive? The Geek squad at best buy told me to buy a new case enclosure for it. If this is the best way to do this, what is the reccomended case for it? and where can I get it from? I tried looking for the original case on ebay but no luck. Any help or feedback would be greatly appreciated. I really need to get all the files off of it (lifes work). Thank you

did you break the connector on the hard drive itself or the drive enclosure tho it appears to be the enclosure? does the drive itself an ide or sata drive?

Is it easy to swap the hard drive out? Is there anything I should be aware of when I try it? Also which enclosure do you recommend?

just do the reverse of what you do with the old enclosure as it is just 2 cables & maybe 4 screws to hold drive in enclosure.

the 1tb drive is sata & the 100gig is ide. just make certain to ask that the new enclosure has sata interface not ide.
