Hi my pc has just turned off and now it wont turn on, i have checked the psu and its perfectly fine, i have also check the front panel connectors, the 24pin connector is fully down and nothing...but if i put the connector 1/3 of the way in the fans come on put when i push it fully down it goes off, i have tried everything and still no luck, please help!! T.I.A my specs are:- msi g41tm-p31, intel celeron E3400 @ 2.60ghz, 4gb ram, 500gb hdd, 320hdd, asus hd5450 graphic card. i think its telling me to upgrade my system..lol..
Hi yes the computer boots up all fans come on and cpu fan then when i push it all the way down it goes off. Then it wont come on.
look at the silver top cans(capacitors) on the motherboard to see if any are domed or leaking brown stuff.
i have triple checked all of them and there is no doming or leaking, there is no scorch mark on the mobo, no scratches or anything, its a complete mystery to me.
disconnect all drives & cards except for videocard unless the board has onboard video. try clearing the cmos as have found that to work sometimes to kickstart a stubborn system. remove all ram to see if powers up or not.
do you have another power supply to try as it sounds like the connection at the motherboard is problematic.hopefully its just the plug.
Clean the contacts and pins on the 24 pin connector... do a scrub/scratch job on the pins. sounds like dirt buildup on the 24 pins at the bottom if it works partially pushed down.
I have cleared the cmos, i have removed all drive, video cards and ram, i have used 2 different psu's so i know its not that and i have cleaned all contacts and the pins, i have done absolutely everything. Its so annoying
it is starting to sound like the board has gone south.if you push the plug partway and the fans spin up that does not mean everything is necessarily getting power.if you have a defective component that hasnt got a good ground it may be feeding back thru another circuit.essentially trying to use a live circuit for a ground.sorry but its easier for me to understand than to explain.lol
Me too, I stopped explaining it years ago when I sold my Oscilloscope and stopped soldering parts on MOBOS. Now it's a plug and play, just replace it.lol
kenny2014, try the board & psu outside of the case with just 1 stick of ram to see what happens. 2oldGeek, i still solder motherboards & cards to fix them.
