Hi, Recently my windows 7 has stopped installing drivers or reconising them. In the device manager they show up as the device name or else unknown but do not install even if i point them to the right driver. Thsi is even devices like memory sticks. I have tried reinstalling the chipset drivers but this does not work, any other ideas? Thank

I know you probably already tried, but the first two things you should try are:

    1.) reboot windows
2.) try another USB port (try rear USB ports preferably)

Also, have you installed any system utilities, virus/spyware scanners, or anything of the like recently? Have you dissabled any services?

Yea i have tried rebooting several times but still no joy also i have tried various ports at the front of the computer but none at the back so ill give that a go, though it does get power at the front to all of the ports it just isnt installing the drivers.

    Thanks

I'm crossing my fingers for you...front ports can get interferance if they are not made well; I am hoping this is all that is wrong.
