I just got the VT6421A controller and hooked it up and it was detected fine and I installed drivers off a little driver disk that came with it. I didn't know which to install, it asked me to pick one that was best for me. I chose the one that said xp version 5.1.600.574 The problem is I hooked up my hdd to the esata port and nothing happened. It wasn't working so I installed an esata to sata bracket that came with my hdd and hooked it to the sata port on the via card and tried the esata port through that and it works. My hdd comes on fine and i can access it. So, my via card's sata ports seem to be working fine but when I try to use the esata port, nothing happens. What is wrong. is it the card? drivers?

I am using the via VT6421A with the driver version 5.1.600.574 and I am trying to hook up a Western Digital Caviar Green WD10EADS in an Antec MX-1 Enclosure. I am running Windows XP on a compaq presario 6420NX

Also Where I bought it on ebay it says this card supports sata 2.0 but on via's website it says it's only sata 1.0. Is this correct? I don't think so because My hdd is sata II and it is working through the sata prot just not the esata port.

Could be a faulty port on the card. I have had that before. Even if the card only supports S-ATA 1, the HDD would still show up.
