So I recently built a a new i5 computer and decided to try overclocking it a little. It is my first time so I thought I would go the easy route and try with TurboV EVO.

The BCLK frequency was set at 169 for OS default. I thought I would move it up by one to 170. This crashed my system and now it will not turn on. It powers up but nothing shows on the screen. Is there any suggestions to help me get it back to stock settings. Anything I can do with the motherboard to reset it?

    System specs
    Asus P7P55D Pro
    Intel Core i5-750
    2x2GB Gskill Ripjaw DDR3 1600
    Radeon 5850

There is red light next to the graphic card on the motherboard indicating that could be the problem, but shouldn't the light be next to the CPU? Also I tried pressing the mem ok button but that didn't work either.

I switched the Radeon 5850 for an NVidia 8500GT and held down the MEM OK button on the motherboard and it booted up. So I was then relieved. I go to install the 5850 again and when it starts up the computer gives me an incredibly loud constant beep. The fans also turn on full speed. At least i'm making progress. Any ideas on how to make the 5850 work?

thye long beep and that fnas mean the graphics card isnt plugged into PCI-E Power, Had The Same When I 4got To Plug My GTX275 Back In After Cleaning, if it still fails to boot unplug the power cable and remove the button battery for 2 minutes, that will reset your CMOS settings and remove the overclock :)

Yea I just realized it probably 8 minutes after I posted this. When I took out the 8500GT I forgot to plug the power back into the 5850 because the 8500GT doesn't have a PCI-E plug. Thanks for the solution, I guess you overlook things when your freaking out haha. My computer is back to normal

If you are serious about overclocking do it in the BIOS not using any programs.
This is roughly what I do...
Start by raising the fsb by notches of 10-20, boot and run prime95 for 5min on a small FFT test and check temp as well. If all good raise the fsb again, boot and run a 5min prime95 small FFT test while still checking the temp. If it is stable for 5min you should be good to move on.

If it fails, doesnt boot/cant load windows, bump up cpu vcore one step, if that fails, bump termination up. Repeat with pll and both ref if that still fails. Once you reach your mark if its high enough (FSB 400+) you'll probably need to bump mch core/ref/pll as well.

Then run a 6-12hour prime95 blend test and/or intelburntest. Make sure you keep checking the temp and volts running thru your cpu with cpuz. Remember this is only a rough guide and doesnt touch on ram settings either. For that you'll have to post in more depth, history of what you have tried, what you want to achieve and some ss of your base line wouldnt hurt either.

By the way keep in mind your Intel Core i5-750 as stock settings will also definitely bottleneck that massive 5850 of yours.. Food for thought.
