first and foremost i would like to strongly apologize to the mods if this post is in the wrong thread.

hows it going? i have a Linux based OS and every since i installed it on my computer i have been getting random shutdowns and hearing a beeping noise when i restart the computer. the message says " computer has shutdown due to thermal/overheating. i have tried cleaning the computer fans and keeping it dust free as much as possible. the computer is in a great area where its not much dust or anything that should be blocking the circulation to the fans. i would like to know why does my computer continuously overheats and shutdown help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advanced!!!

Most modern bios's have adjustments for the shutdown temperature, as well as the fan speed adjustments. You can usualy adjust settings in there to prevent overheating. Also, make sure the fans are all turning...it does not matter if they are clean if they are burned out.

it differs for the length before it shutdowns sometimes the computer can stay on for days at a time working fine and then other times the moment i boot the computer from a shutdown i hear the beeping noise again same applies to the activity if im doing something where i have a lot of things running it'll shutoff. i have tried going into my bios and looking for the temperature and configuration for fan adjustment and temperature of the box but couldn't find it in my bios also both fans are spinning fine. is there anything other that i can check to find out why the computer is constantly overheating? i appreciate your help thus far

It seems unlikely that it is an overheating issue given the conditions. If it won't post from cold somtimes, but can run for days other times, then it is not an overheating issue.

This sounds a bit like a ram issue, have you done a test on the ram?
