My uncle has been having trouble with his pc for the last few weeks.

Sometimes for no apparent reason, the pc just turns itself straight off.
It doesnt reboot, no blue screen or nothing, it just dies.

It just happened 3 times in a row, when he tried to install windows updates.
According to everest, the cpu temp goes from 60 odds to 91.

Any help is welcome & appreciated.

    Cheers

    :/

I had this problem last week.

I was about to replace the power supply when by accident I brushed the CPU heatsink and nearly burned myself.

    CPU fan was spinning

So I powered up and entered the BIOS and monitored the CPU fan and temp.

The fan RPM held at 400 RPM (slow) and the CPU temperature steadily rose.

I shut it down before it did a "thermal shutdown".

I replaced the CPU fan. Everything went back to normal and the PC stopped shutting down.

is your cpu fan spinning & is it properly seated onto the cpu? might have to replace the heatsink compound depending on age of pc.

It might even be as simple as dust buildup on the heatsink.
