    I have a HP Compaq Presario SR1619UK which is stuck in Setup after I put it into Recovery. I've tried 2 seperate cd Recovery discs (which I've checked are ok in my laptop), but the desktop says 'either cd is unreadable or HDD is psyhicaly damaged.

    I'm really new at the tech stuff and took some advice from Afterdawn forums (still not sure if I'm posting in the right place)

    I ran the Memtest86+ via a cd a few times to check the RAM. That showed 'No Errors'

    The hard drive is a Samsung SP1604N/R I found this

    http://www.samsung.com/global/business/hdd/support/utilities/Support_HUTIL.html

    and again used a cd to run all the stated tests....again without any errors shown.

    Apart from not finding any errors/solutions, I'm pleased I have started to learn a little bit about the technical side of my computers hardware and would really appreciate any further advice you can offer me as i would like to repair and/or upgrade this computer.

    Thanks. I have been that route. Comp sez;
    'it doesn't reckonize disc or hard drive has physical damage'
    The Recovery discs check out ok on my laptop.

    I ran the Memtest86+ via a cd a few times to check the RAM. That showed 'No Errors'

    Used a cd Idownloaded/burnt from Samsung (HDD Test DM.iso)to run all the stated tests....again without any errors shown

    I've loaded the LUPU-511.iso and connected to the web...Does this mean RAM &HDD are OK?

    I am new to all this, but feel I'm learning a lot & really appreciate your help.
