basically what i'm trying to do is make my laptop run off my pc, either as a network or whatever and i need some help on how, i know some basics and mids
first and this is probably the easiest would i need to setup my pc as a server or can i still have it as a pc and just stream the data to my laptop over a wired (or wireless) connection,
so i can use the keyboard and mouse on my laptop and have a monitor hooked up to my pc
so everyone can watch on that monitor but i don't even have to be in the same room if i don't want to,
    sorry for getting carried away,
i just want to be able to have my stereo and tv hooked up to my pc, and keyboard and mouse on my laptop to control it all(wirelessly of coarse)
what do you think of this pipe dream?

    It's actually quite easy.

Google "VNC server" and "VNC client."

What you need to do is install a vnc server on the desktop (the one you mention as "pc") and then install a vnc client on the laptop.

After you do that, get the IP address of the desktop and connect the vnc client to it. I'm sure there are plenty of tutorials on how to do this, just google "vnc tutorial"

If the laptop is running a better versions of windows, there is a remote desktop app built right in.

Even XP has "Remote Desktop Connection".
