I overloaded my audio jack on my pc a few weeks ago, so i went out and purchased a cheap as hell sound card.

For some reason when i install it, it doesn't get recognized. I tried different pci slots, and got it to work once for a day and then it stopped working.

Any idea's why it might have stopped working?

if your old sound was onboard, did you disable it in the bios as it could be conflicting with new card?

The old sound card was onboard, and I disabled it in the bios when I installed the card. When I got the card to work I changed a setting in my bios which let the os assign pci devices instead of the bios.

why did you do that for? i'd let the bios do that not the os.

I didn't think it really mattered either way, I could change it back seeing how it's not working anyway.
