Pioneer DVR-K17rs not showing?

My acer aspire 3050 does not detect the OEM Pioneer DVR-K17rs dvd-rw. I have applied the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters fix as show hereLink,and formatted. The dvd-rw is operating correctly because I can here it spool up when a disc is inserted and eject using the button at anytime. I figured it can be the bios so I updated the bios and noticed that the ATAPI device doesn't even show?! I am stuck and any help would be great.

if not seen in the bios then is either a settings issue in the bios or the drive has died.
