I have a q8200 quad core, a 9800gtx+ SC adition, 4 gigs of G-Skill 1066, and a gigabyte MOBO(cant remember the modle, sorry) My question is this. My power supply died a few days ago. Right now I have a 305 watt psu out of a dell powering the computer until I get my new PSU on monday. I have underclocked the CPU and the GPU. I dont plan on doing anything but internet and some sound editing. Is this safe? Will I fry some thing. I dont put the computer under any sort of load really. Any response would be greaty apriciated.

I would unplug or disconnect anything you are not using. Any PCI cards or optical drives that you don't need to browse the internet should be unplugged. If the power supply does overload, I don't think you will damage any components, it will just fry the power supply, or at the least blow the fuses in it.

Most computers only draw the minimum amount of power they need, i max out at about 300 Watts when doing mundane tasks like browsing the net When i Game however I can topple 550Watts to about 600Watts.
