    Hi all,

My PS3 broke the other day and i now need to retrieve the data and back it up from the old hardrive to enable me to format the hardrive and then put all the data back onto it.

The reason for this, is that my new ps3 wont let me use the new hardrive until its formatted.

Does anybody know what i'd need to maybe be able to connect it up to my laptop via usb? or another method i could use?

    Cheers

If the old hard drive broke, then your data is lost.

If the old PS3 broke and you kept the hdd, then your data is still lost.

The only way to get your data back is if the PS3 and it's harddrive are working well enough to use the PS3 XMB...then you can back up most things to a USB drive.
