Seagate external HDD firmware update, Connect 3.5 sata HDD to laptop?

    I have A external Hard drive I need to connect it to my laptop's sata connection. Is there an adapter to do this.I'm trying to update my firmware and to do so The Drive most be connect via sata Not usb. (I wish knew someone with a Desktop pc that has the sata Connection)

    I found it

    15+7 Pin Male to Female SATA HDD Power Extension Cable.

    I'm thinking the seagate firmware utility is not working with my system because Of my Dual boot set up. So this cable should allow me to load the firmware Via boot disk I hope.
