If you buy a PC from a retailer/e-tailer and it is a bog standard PC produced by the likes of Acer or Dell, is the warranty void if the graphics card is changed?

I am asking as my pc works fine when idle (ie web browsing, word processing) but when it is at load (Starcraft 2, or CS:Source (not much load there)) it produces colour spikes like this http://img828.imageshack.us/i/61864819.png/
I have tried the trustworthy reboot, update gfx drivers and I am now suspecting a hardware problem/glitch. My current card is a Radeon HD5870 and a friend of mine has a spare Nvidia Geforce 210 which he used to test his rig which had a Radeon HD4890 so i know that card works fine.

My questiion is, if you change the grapics card in a standard off the shelf PC, will it void the warranty?

good question.i would say it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.your best bet is to check with the store you bought the computer at.

If they say it's ok to replace the graphic card after talking over the phone to a rep be sure to get them to email you a confirmation that it is so,in others words get it in writing, well that's what i would want
