    Ok, so I just moved into a new apartment on campus and wireless internet is available; however, it is shared with two other floors. This is the best way I can describe the situation:

    :=================:
    : :
    :=3rd Floor=======:
    : :
    :==Router=========:second floor
    : :
    :===Me============:

    The walls are concrete and my usb wireless adapter does not pick up the signal well, if im lucky i get two bars %50 of the time. I do not have acess to the router only the individuals on the second floor do. My question is, is it possible to use a wireless router (i have) to be used to amp the signal?

    Or do I have any other options, or should I just buy an antenna?

    Thanks!

    desktop or laptop? what is the orientation of the usb adapter in relation to the router, away or towards it? if desktop, is the usb adapter in the back or in the front of case? if in back, is it pointed towards the router or away?

    You could build a pringles antenna...this would probably be the cheapest, easiest, and tastiest solution.
