Long story short, I purchased a computer as part of a liquidation lot. The computer had a BIOS password installed on the machine that I could not get around. So, I broke down and paid the money to have an authorized dealer remove the password.

Unfortunately, the computer now is asking for a HDD password. Before I throw any more money into this machine is there a way to remove this password? If I buy a new hard drive will I still have an issue?

Before windows. The machine had a BIOS password that I had to pay an "authorized" dealer to remove. Then when they pulled this password off a hard drive password came up. I just want to make sure the dealer gave me the best advice. He said there was virtually no way around it. Best bet was to purchase a new hard drive.

i think that is a windows password not hard drive password. did it come with recovery cd? if have bootable windows cd\dvd, change the boot sequence so that the rom drive is 1st & boot off your disk & see what happens when deleting the "c:drive" partition not "d:data recovery partition.
